In that moment fingers of a man’s hand came out and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace before the lampstand. And the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote.
The word was still in the king’s mouth when a voice fell from the heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: The kingdom has been taken from you!
And now the wise men and the conjurers have been brought in before me, so that they might read this writing and interpret the meaning to me. But they were not able to interpret the meaning of the thing.
In its moment the thing was fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar. And he was driven from men, and he ate the grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heaven, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
Then the king’s brightness was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, and the joints of his loins shook, and his knees knocked one against this other.
