to whom the chief of the eunuchs gave names. For he called Daniel, Belteshazzar; and Hananiah, Shadrach; and Mishael, Meshach; and Azariah, Abed-nego.

And Pharaoh called Joseph by the name of Zaphnath-paaneah. And He gave him Asenath the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, for a wife. And Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.

And Pharaoh-necho made Eliakim the son of Josiah to reign instead of Josiah his father, and turned his name into Jehoiakim; and he took away Jehoahaz, and he came to Egypt and died there.

And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, the brother of his father, to reign in his place, and turned his name into Zedekiah.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. And the thing was true, and a great conflict. And he understood the thing and had understanding of the vision.

The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its meaning?

And Daniel asked of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

I saw a dream, and it terrified me, and the thoughts on my bed and visions of my head troubled me.

But at last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. And I spoke the dream before him, saying,

because a surpassing spirit, and knowledge, and insight in interpreting of dreams, and declaring of riddles , and the loosening of knots, were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the meaning.
