Amos 7:10

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

And Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent to Jeroboam, the king of Israel, saying, Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to endure all his words.

And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us, or shall you really rule over us? And they went still more to hate him because of his dreams, and because of his words.

After this thing Jeroboam did not turn back from his evil way, but turned and made from the ends of the people priests of the high places; he who desired he filled his hand and he was one of the priests of the high places.

And it happened when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, Are you this one disturbing Israel?

Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the Law shall not perish from the priest, and not counsel from the wise, and not word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not attend to any of his words.

And it happened, when they had heard all the words, they turned each man to his companion in fear. And they said to Baruch, Reporting we will report all these words to the king.

Therefore the rulers said to the king, Please cause this man to die. For in this way he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking these words to them. For this man does not seek the peace of this people, but the evil.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

For in the day I call to account the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also call to account on the altars of Bethel. And the horns of the altar will be cut off and will fall to the ground.

They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they detest him who speaks uprightly.

But do not seek Beth-el, and do not enter Gilgal, and do not cross over to Beersheba; for going Gilgal shall go into exile, and Beth-el shall be for nothing.

For so Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and going Israel shall go into exile out of his land.

And He having come into the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people came near to Him as He was teaching, saying, By what authority do You do these things? And who gave this authority to You?

And they began to accuse Him, saying, we found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying Himself to be Christ, a king.

For having found this man a pestilence and moving insurrection among all the Jews throughout the world, and a leader of the Nazarene sect;

saying, Did we not command you by a command that you not teach on this name? And, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring on us the blood of this man.

And hearing these things, they were cut to their hearts and gnashed the teeth on him.
