Woe to those at ease in Zion, and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria, those noted as the chief of the nations! And the house of Israel came to them.

How alone sits the city that was full of people! She has become like a widow, one great among the nations; a noblewoman among the provinces has become a payer of tribute.

You only have I known of all the families of the earth. On account of this I will call all your iniquities to account.

Make it heard at the palaces in Ashdod, and at the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Gather yourselves on the mountains of Samaria and see many tumults in its midst, and oppressions in its midst.

Hear this Word, cows of Bashan who are in the mountain of Samaria, those press- ing down the poor ones, those crushing the needy ones, who say to their husbands, Bring in, that we may drink.

And I will exile you beyond Damascus, says Jehovah; the God of Hosts is His name.

Those swearing by the guilt of Samaria, and say, As your God lives, O Dan! And, As the way of Beer-sheba lives! Even they shall fall, and not rise up again.

All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, those who say, The evil shall not draw near about us or go before us.

And I said, Heads of Jacob and magistrates of the house of Israel, please hear. Is it not for you to know justice?

And it shall be in that time, I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and call to account the men being settled on their lees; who say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, and not will He do evil.

Having purposed, He brought us forth by the Word of truth, for us to be a certain firstfruit of His creatures.

You lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived for self-pleasure; you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter;

“casting all your anxiety onto Him,” because it matters to Him concerning you. LXX-Psa. 54:23; MT-Psa. 55:22

And the five men walked, and came to Laish. And they saw the people living securely in its midst, according to the custom of the Sidonians, quiet and in security.
