Amos 1:1

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

And Joab sent to Tekoah and took a wise woman from there, and said to her, Pretend yourself to be a mourner now, and please put on garments of mourning. And do not anoint yourself with oil, and you shall be a woman who has been mourning many days for one who died.

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who resided in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,

The prophets who have been before me and before you from antiquity prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of plague.

O sons of Benjamin take refuge from the midst of Jerusalem. And blow the rams’ horn in Tekoa; and set up a signal over Beth-haccerem. For evil looks down out of the north, and a great shattering.

And you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. And you will call to them, but they will not answer you.

The Word of Jehovah that was to Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel.

Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I was not a prophet, and not was I a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman and one tending sycamore trees.

The Word of Jehovah that was to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw on Samaria and Jerusalem:

And you shall flee to the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah. And Jehovah my God shall come, and all the holy ones with You.

And walking beside the sea of Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers, Simon being called Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.

But God chose the foolish things of the world that the wise might be put to shame, and God chose the weak things of the world so that He might put to shame the strong things.
