who, having come near to the chief priests and to the elders, said, With a curse we have bound ourselves by an oath to taste of nothing until we shall kill Paul.
The look of their faces answers against them; they have declared their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have dealt an evil way to themselves.

Both palms are on evil, to do it well. The ruler is asking for a bribe, also the judge. And the great man speaks the lust of his soul; he acts, and they weave it together.
Therefore, you do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty men of them lie in wait for him who bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor to drink until they kill him. And now they are ready, awaiting the promise from you.
