But when Herod was about to bring him out, in that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, having been bound with two chains, also guards were before the door keeping the prison.

Then going near, the chiliarch laid hold of him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains. And he asked who he might be, and what he is doing.

Therefore, because of this, I called for you, to see and to speak to you. For I have this chain around me for the sake of the hope of Israel.

saying, Indeed we found the jail having been shut in all security, and the guards outside standing before the doors. But opening it, we found no one inside.

for which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak boldly as it is right for me to speak.

I said, I will dash them to pieces; I will make their memory cease from among men;

May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me, and he was not ashamed of my chain,

So that we may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?” Psa. 118:6
