And he struck Moab, and measured them with a line; making them to lie down on the ground. And he measured two lines to cause them to die, and the fulness of the line to keep alive. And the Moabites were slaves to David, bearing a gift.

And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab, Please let my father and my mother come and be with you, until I know what God will do to me.

And he settled them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the days David was in the stronghold.
