And the son of Saul heard that Abner was dead in Hebron. And his hands were feeble; and all those in Israel were terrified.

And I shall come on him, and he shall be weary and feeble handed. And I will make him tremble, and the people with him shall flee. And I shall strike the king by himself.

And Abner the son of Ner, the commander of Saul’s army, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and caused him to cross over to Mahanaim.

And Abner returned to Hebron. And Joab turning him aside into the middle of the gate, to speak with him privately, even he struck him in the fifth rib there, and he died, because of the blood of his brother Asahel.

And the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah and terrified them in building,

For they all made us fear, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, and it will not be done. And now, make my hands strong.

On account of this all hands shall droop, and every heart of man shall melt;

Strengthen then the slack of hands and firm up the staggering knees.

The king of Babylon has heard their report, and his hands sank; anguish seized him, pangs like one giving birth.

We have heard the report of it. Our hands have dropped down; anguish has seized us, pain like one giving birth.

In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! Zion, do not let your hands droop.
