And Joab sent to Tekoah and took a wise woman from there, and said to her, Pretend yourself to be a mourner now, and please put on garments of mourning. And do not anoint yourself with oil, and you shall be a woman who has been mourning many days for one who died.
And he came near to her. And the woman said, Are you Joab? And he said, I am. And she said to him, Hear the words of your handmaid. And he said, I am listening.
And the woman came to all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. And he blew the rams’ horn, and they were dispersed from the city, each man to his tents. And Joab went back to Jerusalem to the king.
And the man’s name was Nabal, and his wife’s name, Abigail. And the woman was of good understanding, and beautiful of form. And the man was hard and evil in his dealings. And he was of Caleb.
