And Absalom happened to come before David’s servants. And Absalom was riding on a mule, and the mule came in under the thick branches of a great oak. And his head was firmly held in the oak, and he was lifted up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him passed on.

And the young men of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom commanded. And all the king’s sons rose up, and they each man rode on his mule, and fled.

And when he sheared his head (for it was at the end of days of days that he sheared it, because the hair was heavy on him, and he sheared it), he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels by the king’s weight.

And Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not done. And he saddled the ass and rose up and went to his house, to his city. And he gave command to his household, then hanged himself, and died. And he was buried in the grave of his father.

And one man saw it and told Joab, and said, Behold! I saw Absalom hanging in the oak;

And Joab said, I will not wait this way before you. And he took three darts in his hand and struck them into Absalom’s heart while he was alive, in the midst of the oak.

And it happened, there the battle was scattered over the face of all the land, and the forest devoured among the people more than the sword had devoured in that day.

Is it not disaster to the perverse one, and calamity to the workers of iniquity?

He cursing his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in the middle of darkness.

The eye that mocks its father and despises to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the sons of the eagle shall eat it.

He who flees from the dread shall fall into the pit. And he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring it on Moab, the year of their calling to account, a statement of Jehovah.

And tossing the silver pieces into the temple, he left. And going away he hanged himself.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, “Accursed is everyone having been hung on a tree;” Deut. 21:23

his body shall not remain all night on the tree; but burying you shall bury him the same day. For he that is hanged is a reproach to God. And you shall not defile your land which Jehovah your God is giving to you as an inheritance.

Cursed is he who dishonors his father or his mother! And all the people shall say, Amen!

Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he uncovers his father’s skirt! And all the people shall say, Amen!
