And it happened after Israel lived in that land, even Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine. And Israel heard. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

And it happened at evening time, David rose up from his bed and walked up and down on the roof of the king’s house. And he saw from the roof a woman bathing. And the woman was very good of form.

And the king went out, and all his household at his feet. And the king left ten women, concubines, to keep the house.

And the showers are withheld, and there has been no latter rain. And the forehead of a woman, one doing adultery, was to you; you refused to be ashamed.

Were they ashamed when they had made an abomination? They were not even at all ashamed, and they did not know how to blush. So they shall fall among those who fall. In the time that they rebel they will wither, says Jehovah.

For her blood is in her midst, she set it on a shining rock. She did not pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust.

And, behold! A man of the sons of Israel came and brought in to his brothers a woman of Midian, before the eyes of Moses and before the eyes of all the congregation of the sons of Israel weeping at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and who glory in their shame, the ones thinking earthly things.
