And Absalom sent spies among all the tribes of Israel, saying, When you hear the sound of the rams’ horn, then you shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron.
And Absalom commanded his young men, saying, Now watch when Amnon’s heart is glad with wine, and when I say to you, Strike Amnon, you shall cause him to die. Do not fear. Is it not that I commanded you? Be strong, and become sons of strength.
And he said to his servants, Behold, Joab’s allotment is to my hand, and to him is barley there. Go and set it on fire. And Absalom’s servants set the allotment on fire.
And it happened after this, David asked of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Where shall I go up? And He said, To Hebron.
And Nathan spoke to Bath-sheba, the mother of Solomon, saying, Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and our lord David does not know?
And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet shall anoint him there as king over Israel. And you shall blow with the rams’ horn and shout, Let King Solomon live!
And all the elders of Israel came in to the king at Hebron. And David cut a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah. And they anointed David as king over Israel, according to the Word of Jehovah, by the hand of Samuel.
And these were the numbers of the heads of those that were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the mouth of Jehovah.
All these were men of war, keeping rank; they came to Hebron with a perfect heart, to make David king over all Israel. And also all the rest of Israel was of one heart, to make David king.
