And he built again the high places that his father Hezekiah had destroyed, and raised up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as did Ahab the king of Israel, and worshiped all the host of the heavens, and served them.

And Elijah came near all the people and said, Until when are you limping over two opinions? If Jehovah is God, follow Him; and if Baal, follow him. But the people did not answer him a word.

he took away the high places, and broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherah, and beat to bits the bronze serpent that Moses made (for in those days it was that the sons of Israel burned sacrifices to it) and he called it Nehushtan.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for a daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did the evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the eyes of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab, for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

Has not Hezekiah himself removed His high places, and His altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Before one altar you shall worship, and on it you shall burn incense.

And in the eighth year of his reign, and he was still a boy, he began to seek to the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherahs, and the graven images, and the molten images.

if I looked to the light when it shone, or the moon walking in splendor,

But you are those who forsake Jehovah, who forget My holy mountain; who array a table for Fortune, and who fill mixed wine for Fate.

For the sons of Judah have done evil in My eyes, a statement of Jehovah. They have set their abominable idols in the house on which is called My name in order to defile it.

And one has kept himself as to the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab. And you walk in their counsels, so that I may give you for a horror, and ones living in her for a hissing. And you shall bear the reproach of My people.

You shall not set up for yourself Asherahs of any trees, which you make for yourself near the altar of Jehovah your God.

When there is found among you, in one of your gates which Jehovah your God is giving to you, a man or woman who does the evil thing in the sight of Jehovah your God in passing over His covenant,

and has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them; or the sun, or the moon, or of the host of the heavens, which I have not commanded;

so that they may not teach you to do according to all their disgusting things which they have done for their gods; and you would sin against Jehovah your God.

and lest you lift up your eyes towards the heavens and see the sun, and the moon and the stars, all the host of the heavens, and you be drawn away and worship them, and serve them; which Jehovah your God has allotted to all the peoples under all the heavens.
