2 Corinthians 7:11

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

For behold this very same thing, you being grieved according to God, how much it fully worked earnestness in you, but also defense, but also indignation, but also fear, but also desire, but also zeal, but also vengeance! In everything you commended yourselves to be clear in the matter.

And I contended with them, and put a curse on them, and struck some of them, and I plucked their hair. And I made them swear by the name of God, saying, If you shall give your daughters to their sons, or and if you take from their daughters to your sons and for yourselves.

Therefore, I despise myself, and I have repented on dust and ashes.

My zeal has eaten me up; my adversaries have forgotten Your Word.

My soul waits for the Lord more than those watching for the morning; yea, those watching for the morning.

He will do the desire of the ones who fear Him; and He will hear their cry and save them.

Serve Jehovah with fear; yea, rejoice with trembling.

But in their sickness, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fastings; and my prayer returned to my bosom.

My Lord, all my desire is before You, and my sighing is not hidden from You.

To the chief musician. A Contemplation for the sons of Korah. As the deer pants after the channels of water, so my soul pants after You, O God.

For the zeal of Your house has consumed Me; and the reproaches of the ones who reproach You have fallen on Me.

The wise ones fear and turn from evil, but the fool passes over and is bold.

Blessed is the man who is always in awe of God! But he who hardens his heart falls into an evil way.

Set me as a seal on Your heart, as a seal on Your arm. For love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as Sheol; its flames are flames of fire, a flame of Jehovah.

Yea, Jehovah, in the path of Your judgments we awaited You; for Your name and for Your memory is the desire of our soul.

And My hand has made all these things, even all these things exist, a statement of Jehovah. But I will look toward this one, to the afflicted one, and to the contrite of spirit, even trembling at My Word.

Then the king, when he heard the word, was very displeased with himself, and he set his heart on Daniel, to deliver him. And he was striving until the going of the sun to deliver him.

And having looked around on them with anger, being greatly grieved over the hardness of their heart, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he stretched out, and his hand was restored sound as the other.

And His disciples remembered that it was written, “The zeal of Your house has consumed Me.” Psa. 69:9

But awaiting them in Athens, Paul’s spirit was provoked within him, seeing the city utterly idolatrous.

Well! For unbelief they were broken off. And you stand by faith. Do not be highminded, but fear.

For the one serving Christ in these things is pleasing to God, and approved by men.

But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is not God unrighteous inflicting wrath? I speak according to man.

that there not be division in the body, but that the members might have the same care for one another.

But God will judge the ones outside. “And take away from yourselves the wicked one.” Deut. 17:7

And you are being puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that did this deed might be taken from your midst.

But I pray to God for you not to do the evil, none; not that we may appear to be approved, but that you may do the good, and we may be disapproved.

This punishment by the majority is enough for such a one.

but in everything commending ourselves as God’s servants, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

Therefore having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilements of flesh and of spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

And not only by his coming, but also by the comfort with which he was encouraged over you, relating to us your longing, your mourning, your zeal on my behalf, so as for me to rejoice more.

Now I rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that you were grieved to repentance. For you were grieved according to God, that you might suffer loss in nothing by us.

For I know your eagerness, of which I boast to Macedonia on your behalf, that Achaia has made ready from last year, and your zeal arouses the greater number.

“Be angry, but do not sin;” do not let the sun go down on your wrath, LXX-Psa. 4:4; MT-Psa. 4:5

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

So, then, my beloved, even as you always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, cultivate your salvation with fear and trembling,

not to go beyond and to take advantage of his brother in the matter, because the Lord is the avenger concerning all these, even as we told you before, and solemnly testified.

The ones sinning before all, rebuke, that the rest also may have fear.

Be eager, study to present yourself approved to God, a workman unashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Faithful is the Word, and concerning these things I purpose you to strongly affirm that the ones believing God should take thought to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Therefore, let us fear lest perhaps a promise having been left to enter into His rest, that any of you may seem to have come short.

But the wisdom from above is firstly truly pure, then peaceable, gentle, yielding, full of mercy and of good fruits, not partial and not pretended.

And if you call on the Father, the One judging according to the work of each one without respect of persons, in the time of your pilgrimage conduct yourselves in fear,

as newborn babes desire the pure soulnourishing milk, that you may grow by it;

But save others with fear, snatching them out of the fire, hating even the garment having been stained from the flesh.

I, as many “as I love, I rebuke and I chasten.” Be zealous, then, and repent. Prov. 3:12
