For seizing John, Herod bound him and put him into prison, because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.

And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken from them, and then they will fast.

Then, having fasted and prayed, and placing hands on them, they let them go.

But Jews came there from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, and having stoned Paul, they dragged him outside the city, supposing him to have died.

And having hand-picked elders for them in every assembly, having prayed with fastings, they committed them to the Lord into whom they had believed.

But becoming jealous, and taking some wicked men of the market loafers, and gathering a crowd, the disobeying Jews set the city into an uproar. And coming on the house of Jason, they sought to bring them on to the assembled people.

Therefore, be alert, remembering that I did not cease admonishing each one with tears night and day for three years.

And much discord taking place, fearing lest Paul should be torn apart by them, the chiliarch commanded the soldiers to go down to seize him out of their midst, and to bring him into the barracks.

he said, I will hear you fully when your accusers arrive. And he commanded him to be guarded in the praetorium of Herod.

But two years being completed, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus. And wishing to lay up favors to the Jews, Felix left Paul being bound.

which I also did in Jerusalem I also shut up many of the saints in prisons, receiving authority from the chief priests; and they being put to death, I cast a vote.

And Paul said, I would pray to God, both in a little and in much, not only you, but also the ones hearing me today to become such as I also am, except for these bonds.

And Paul remained two whole years in his own rented place, and he welcomed all the ones coming in to him,

and laid their hands on the apostles, and put them publicly in custody.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace which was toward me has not been fruitless, but I labored more abundantly than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Until the present hour we also hunger and thirst, and are poorly clothed, and are buffeted, and wander homeless,

Do not deprive one another, if not by agreement for a time, that you may devote yourselves to fasting and to prayer. And come together again on the same place, that Satan may not tempt you through your lack of self-control.

in hardship and toil, in sleepless nights many times, in hunger and thirst, in fastings many times, in cold and nakedness.

Because of this, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you, the nations,

He may give him forty stripes; he shall not add more, lest, if he should exceed and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother would be dishonored before your eyes.

so that in all the praetorium, and to all the rest, my bonds have become clearly revealed to be in Christ.

For, brothers, you remember our labor and toil, night and day, working in order not to put a burden on any one of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

for to this we also labor and are reproached, because we hope on the living God, who is Savior of all men, especially of believing ones.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner. But suffer hardship with the gospel, according to the power of God,

in which I suffer hardship as an evildoer, unto bonds; but the Word of God has not been bound.

But you be clear-minded in all, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

And others received trial of mockings and of scourgings; yea, more, of bonds and of prison:

Yield to the ones taking the lead of you, and submit, for they watch for your souls, giving an account, that they may do this with joy, and not with groaning; for this would be unprofitable to you.

You know the brother, Timothy, having been freed, with whom if he comes quickly, I will see you.

Fear nothing of what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some from you into prison, so that you may be tried; and you will have affliction ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
