You have said, behold, I have stricken Edom, and your heart has lifted you up to boast; now, stay in your house; why should you stir yourself up to evil, that you should fall, you and Judah with you?

And Amaziah would not listen, for it was from God, in order to give them into their hand, because they had sought to the gods of Edom.

For a man to cease from strife is an honor, but every foolish one lays himself bare.

One who grabs the ears of a dog is like one passing by; he is passing wrath on himself over strife that is not his.

The proud in soul stirs up strife, but he who is trusting on Jehovah shall be made fat.

So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise man glory in his wisdom, and do not let the mighty one glory in his might. Do not let the rich man glory in his riches.

And having borne away the multitude, his heart will be lifted up. And he will cause myriads to fall, but he shall not be strong.

Behold, the soul in him is puffed up and is not upright; but the just shall live by his faith.

Or what king going to encounter another king in war does not first sit down and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet those coming upon him with twenty thousand?

so that no flesh might glory in His presence.

and it rises up into your heart, and you forget Jehovah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves;

But He gives greater grace. Because of this it says, “God sets Himself against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones.” Prov. 3:34

Likewise, younger ones be subject to older ones; and all being subject to one another. gird on humility, because God sets Himself “against proud ones, but He gives grace to humble ones”. Prov. 3:34
