And it happened, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was settled, and when he was strong, he forsook the Law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

As to the sons of Israel, those living in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign. And he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

And they shall say, Because they have forsaken Jehovah their God, who brought their fathers out from the land of Egypt, and they firmly held onto other gods and bowed themselves to them and served them. On account of this Jehovah has brought in upon them all this evil.

Also Judah did not keep the commands of Jehovah their God, and they walked in the statutes of Israel that they had made.

And they made the kingdom of Judah strong, and strengthened Rehoboam the son of Solomon for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.

And he had understanding, and spread out all his sons to all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all the fortified cities, and gave them provision in abundance. And he demanded a multitude of wives.

Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon the king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

And King Rehoboam made himself strong in Jerusalem, and reigned. For Rehoboam was a son of forty one years when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah had chosen to put His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

And they forsook the house of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherahs and the idols; and there was wrath on Judah and Jerusalem because of this guilt.

Woe, sinful nation, a people heavy with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, sons who corrupt! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged backward.

O generation, see the Word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of darkness? Why do My people say, We roam; we will come no more to You.

When Ephraim spoke trembling, he lifted up himself in Israel. But he offended in Baal, and he died.

And one has kept himself as to the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab. And you walk in their counsels, so that I may give you for a horror, and ones living in her for a hissing. And you shall bear the reproach of My people.

But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked; you grew fat, thick and sated. And he abandoned God who made him, and fell away from the Rock of his salvation.

You forgot the Rock that brought you into being and ceased to care for God who formed you.

Wherever they went, the hand of Jehovah was against them for evil, as Jehovah had spoken, and as Jehovah had sworn to them. And it distressed them very much.
