And it happened, after the dying of Saul, David returned from striking the Amalekites; and David remained in Ziklag two days.

And they mourned and wept and fasted until the evening, for Saul, and for his son Jonathan, and for the people of Jehovah, and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

And Saul and his three sons died, and all his house; they died together.

And he quickly called to the young man bearing his weapons, and said to him, Draw your sword and cause me to die, that they not say of me, A woman killed him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.

And all the people went to Gilgal and made Saul to reign there in Gilgal, before the face of Jehovah. And they offered sacrifices of peace offerings there before Jehovah. And Saul and all the men of Israel greatly rejoiced there.

Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call to Jehovah and He will give sounds and rain. And know and see that your evil is great, that which you have done in the eyes of Jehovah, to ask a king for yourselves.

But if you still do evilly, both you and your king will be swept away.

And David said, As Jehovah lives, except Jehovah strike him, or his day shall come and he dies, or he goes down and is devoured in battle,

Yea, Jehovah is also giving Israel into the hand of the Philistines along with you. And tomorrow you and your sons also will be with me. And Jehovah will give the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

And his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, and he also fell on his sword and died with him.

And the men of Israel who were beyond the valley, and who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled, and that Saul and his sons had died. And they abandoned the cities and fled. And the Philistines came in and lived in them.
