And Samuel died, and all Israel was gathered, and mourned for him. And they buried him in his house, in Ramah. And David rose up and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
And those living in the land, the Canaanites, saw the wailing in the threshing- floor of thorns. And they said, This is a very great wailing to Egypt; for this reason its name was called The Meadow of Egypt, which is on the other side of Jordan.
And the sons of Israel pulled up stakes in their breakings of camp from the wilderness of Sinai. And the cloud stayed on it in the wilderness of Paran.
And they went and came in to Moses and to Aaron, and to all the tabernacle of the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh. And they brought them and all the congregation word, and made them see the fruit of the land.
And they rose up early in the morning and worshiped before Jehovah. And they went back and came to their house in Ramah. And Elkanah knew his wife Hannah, and Jehovah remembered her.
And Samuel was dead. And all Israel had mourned for him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his city. And Saul had taken away the mediums and spirit-knowers out of the land.
