But David knew that Saul was devising evil against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod near.

And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, Please bring the ephod near to me. And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

And it happened, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David, near Keilah, an ephod came in his hand.

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask for him according to the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah. At his mouth they shall go out, and at his mouth they shall come in, he and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

perceiving it all, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region around.

But their plot was known to Saul. And they carefully watched the gates both by day and by night so as to kill him.

Call to Me, and I will answer you; and I will tell you great and inaccessible things; you do not know them.

And one son escaped of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. And his name was Abiathar, and he fled after David.

And Saul said to Ahijah, Bring near the ark of God here, for the ark of God was with the sons of Israel on that day.

And Saul heard and called all the people to battle, to go down to Keilah, to lay siege to David and to his men.

And David said, O Jehovah the God of Israel, Your servant hearing has heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city because of me.

And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Go to Anathoth, to your fields. For you are a man of death. But I will not at this time cause you to die, because you have borne the ark of the Lord Jehovah before my father David, and because you were afflicted in all the things with which my father was afflicted.

For the sons of Israel shall live many days with no king and no ruler, and with no sacrifice, and no pillars, and no ephod or teraphim.

And they inquired again of Jehovah, Has the man yet come here? And Jehovah said, Behold he is hiding himself by the baggage.
