And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? What is my iniquity, and what is my sin before your father, that he is seeking my soul?

And Saul spoke to his son Jonathan, and to all his servants, to cause David to die.

And David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah, and declared to him all that Saul had done to him. And he went, he and Samuel, and they lived in Naioth.

And he said to him, Far be it! You shall not die. Behold, my father shall not do a great thing or a small thing and not reveal it to my ear. And why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.

And Jonathan answered his father Saul, and said to him, Why should he die? What has he done?

And my father, behold! Yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand. For in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is not evil and transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you are lying in wait for my soul, to take it.

Jehovah shall judge between you and me, and Jehovah shall avenge me of you. But my hand shall not be on you.

And he said to David, You are a righteous one more than I. For you have rewarded me as with a good one, and I have rewarded you as with an evil one.

And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of man, saying, Behold, David seeks to do you evil?

And he said, Why is this, that my lord is pursuing after his servant? For what have I done, and what in my hand is evil?
