And David went out before them, and answered and said to them, If you have come to me for peace, to help me, I have a heart to unite with yours. But if to betray me to my adversary, there is no violence in my hand; the God of our fathers shall see and reprove.
If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, shall entice you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, you and your fathers,
that their hearts may be comforted, being joined together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the mystery of God, even of the Father and of Christ,
And the people said to Saul, Shall Jonathan die, he who did this great deliverance in Israel? Far be it! As Jehovah lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has worked with God this day. And the people redeemed Jonathan, and he did not die.
And Saul’s son Jonathan delighted exceedingly in David. And Jonathan declared it to David, saying, My father Saul is seeking to kill you. And now, please be on guard in the morning, and you shall stay in the secret place, and shall hide.
And you shall do kindness to your servant, for you have brought your servant with you into a covenant of Jehovah. And if there is iniquity in me, you cause me to die; for why is this, that you bring me to your father?
that all of you have conspired against me, and no one was revealing in my ear when my son cut a covenant with the son of Jesse? And not one of you is sorry for me, even to reveal in my ear that my son has aroused my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day.
