And David was stronger than the Philistine with the sling and with the stone. And he struck the Philistine and caused him to die. And there was no sword in David’s hand.
And it happened in the day of battle that there was neither sword nor spear in the hand of any of the people with Saul and Jonathan. But one was found with Saul and with his son Jonathan.
And David girded his sword on his apparel, and started to go. But he had not tested these. And David said to Saul, I am not able to go with these, for I have not tested them; and David took them off him.
And David put his hand into the pouch and took a stone from there. And he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.
And David ran and stood by the Philistine, and took his sword; and he drew it out of its sheath and caused him to die. And he cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their warrior was dead, and they fled.
Yea, he has put his life in his hand and struck the Philistine. And Jehovah worked a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. And why do you sin against innocent blood, to cause David to die without cause?
And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you struck in the valley of Elah; behold, it is wrapped in the cloak behind the ephod. If you desire, take it for yourself; for there is no other except it in this place. And David said, There is none like it. Give it to me.
