And the name of the man was Elimelech; and the name of his wife Naomi. And the name of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites from Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the fields of Moab, and remained there.
And David rose up early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper, and took the things, and went, as Jesse commanded him. And he came to the barricade, and to the army which was going out to the battle array; and they were shouting for battle.
And David left the goods on him into the hands of the keeper of the goods, and he ran to the army, and came and asked his brothers of their well-being.
And the Philistines set themselves in order to meet Israel, and the battle was spread. And Israel was stricken before the Philistines. And they struck about four thousand men from the battle line in the field.
