And these are the last words of David, a saying of David the son of Jesse, and a statement of the man raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel:
And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He shall come forth to Me to become One ruling in Israel; and His goings forth have been from aforetime, from the days of eternity.
“And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, by no means are you least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you shall come out One ruling, who shall shepherd My people Israel.” Mic. 5:2
And the name of the man was Elimelech; and the name of his wife Naomi. And the name of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites from Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the fields of Moab, and remained there.
And the neighboring women gave him a name, saying, This is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim from the hills of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.
And Jehovah said to Samuel, Until when will you mourn for Saul, for I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have seen a king for Me among his sons.
One of the servants answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows to play, and a mighty man of strength, and a man of battle, and skillful in speech, and a man of form; and Jehovah is with him.
