1 Samuel 16:1

King James 3 - The Literal Traslation

And Jehovah said to Samuel, Until when will you mourn for Saul, for I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have seen a king for Me among his sons.

From the day that I brought out My people, even Israel, from Egypt, I have not chosen a city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house for My name to be there; but I chose David to be over My people Israel.

And Elisha the prophet called to one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, Gird up your loins and take this vial of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead.

And take the vial of oil and pour on his head, and say, So says Jehovah, I have anointed you for a king to Israel. And you shall open the door and flee, and shall not wait.

And he rose up and came into the house, and poured the oil on his head, and said to him, So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, I have anointed you for a king to the people of Jehovah, to Israel.

And all the elders of Israel came in to the king at Hebron. And David cut a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah. And they anointed David as king over Israel, according to the Word of Jehovah, by the hand of Samuel.

But Jehovah the God of Israel chose me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel forever. For He chose Judah as the ruler, and my father’s house in the house of Judah; and among the sons of my father He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.

And a Shoot goes out from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch will bear fruit out of his roots.

And it shall be in that day, the Root of Jesse is it that stands as a banner of peoples; nations shall seek to Him; and His resting place shall be glory.

Behold, I gave Him a Witness to peoples, a Leader and Commander of peoples.

And you, do not pray for this people; and do not lift up a cry or prayer for them. For I will not hear in the time they cry to Me for their evil.

And Jehovah said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My soul is not toward this people. Send them from My face; yea, let them go out.

Men will call them rejected silver, for Jehovah has rejected them.

And you, do not pray for this people; do not lift up cry or prayer for them. Do not intercede with Me, for I do not hear you.

And he said, These are the two sons of fresh oil who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

And again Isaiah says, “There shall be the Root of Jesse, and the One rising up to rule the nations; on Him nations will hope.” Isa. 11:10

And what more may I say? For the time will fail me telling about Gideon, Barak, and also Samson and Jephthah, and also David and Samuel, and the prophets,

If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask; and He shall give life to the one not sinning unto death. There is a sin unto death. I do not say that he should ask about that.

And Samuel took the flask of oil and poured on his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because Jehovah has anointed you for a leader over His inheritance?

I repent that I made Saul reign as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and he has not risen to do My words. And Samuel was angry, and he cried to Jehovah all night.

For the sin of divination is rebellion; insolence is both iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, so He has rejected you from being king.

And Samuel said to Saul, I will not return with you, for you have rejected the Word of Jehovah and Jehovah has rejected you from being king over Israel.

And Samuel did not again see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul. And Jehovah repented that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.

And Saul’s servants said to him, Behold, now an evil spirit from God is terrifying you.

And it happened, when the evil spirit from God was on Saul, even David would take the harp and play with his hand. And there was relief for Saul, and it was well with him. And the evil spirit would depart from him.

And David was the son of an Ephrathite of Bethlehem-Judah named Jesse. And to him were eight sons. And the man was old among men in the days of Saul.

At this time tomorrow I will send to you a man out of the land of Benjamin. And you shall anoint him for the leader over My people Israel. And he shall save My people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen My people, for their cry has come to Me.
