And it happened when the king heard the saying of the man of God which he had cried against the altar in Beth-el, Jereboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, Seize him. And his hand which he put out against him withered, and he was not able to bring it back to him.
And the king answered and said to the man of God, Please entreat the face of Jehovah your God, and pray for me, and my hand shall come back to me. And the man of God entreated the face of Jehovah, and the hand of the king came back to him, and it was as at the beginning.
And on that day the battle went on, and the king was caused to stand up in the chariot in front of Syria. And he died in the evening, and the blood of the wound poured out into the middle of the chariot.
For in the day I call to account the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also call to account on the altars of Bethel. And the horns of the altar will be cut off and will fall to the ground.
When a prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah, if the thing does not happen and come about, that is the thing which Jehovah has not spoken; that prophet has spoken it proudly; you shall not be afraid of him.
