And he moved from there to a mountain on the east of Beth-el, and stretched his tent with Beth-el toward the sea, and Ai on the east. And he built an altar there to Jehovah, and called on the name of Jehovah.

And he called the name of that place Beth-el [The House of God]. And yet the name of the city was at first Luz.

And now you think to be strong against the kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David. And you are a great host; yea, with you are calves of gold that Jeroboam has made as gods to you.

And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of their confidence in Bethel.

The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; all the land quakes at the sound of the neighing of his stallions. For they come and devour the land and its fullness, the city and those who live in it.

The people of Samaria shall dread because of the calves of Beth-aven. For its people shall mourn over it; also its priests who rejoiced on it for its glory, because it has departed from it.

Israel, though you fornicate, do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, and not go up to Beth-aven, and not swear, As Jehovah lives.

But do not seek Beth-el, and do not enter Gilgal, and do not cross over to Beersheba; for going Gilgal shall go into exile, and Beth-el shall be for nothing.

But do not add to prophesy at Bethel any more, for it is the king’s holy place, and it is the royal house.

Those swearing by the guilt of Samaria, and say, As your God lives, O Dan! And, As the way of Beer-sheba lives! Even they shall fall, and not rise up again.

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And Jehovah caused him to see all the land; Gilead to Dan;

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, on the east of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and spy out the land. And the men went up and spied out Ai.

And the sons of Dan went on their way. And Micah saw that they were stronger than he, and turned and went back to his house.

And all the sons of Israel went out, and the congregation was assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and the land of Gilead, to Jehovah at Mizpeh.
