And even as “Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights,” so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. Jon. 1:17
From then Jesus began to show to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day.
For He was teaching His disciples, and said to them, The Son of Man is given over into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And being killed, He will rise up the third day.
saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
And after these things, Joseph, the one from Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden because of fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Then he came and took the body of Jesus.
to whom also He presented Himself living after His suffering, by many infallible proofs, being seen by them through forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God.
because He set a day in which “He is going to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness,” by a Man whom He appointed; having offered faith to all, having raised Him up from the dead. Psa. 9:8
Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, so also we should walk in newness of life.
having been buried together with Him in baptism, in whom also you were raised through the faith of the working of God, the One having raised Him from among the dead ones.
searching for what, or what sort of time the Spirit of Christ made clear within them; testifying beforehand of the sufferings belonging to Christ, and the glories after these.
