For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks great swelling words, holding men in admiration for the sake of advantage.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that have just escaped from them who live in error.

But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles!

For we ourselves also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Not boasting of things beyond our measure, that is, of other men's labors; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be strengthened by you according to our field abundantly,

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the law do you dishonor God?

Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God,

For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and came to nothing.

And you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brothers, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.

In you have they made light of father and mother: in the midst of you have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in you have they wronged the fatherless and the widow.

Lo, this only have I found, that God has made man upright; but they have sought out many devices.

The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young vultures shall eat it.

The north wind brings forth rain: so does a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.

But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Thus were they defiled with their own works, and played the harlot with their own deeds.

You answered them, O LORD our God: you were a God that forgave them, though you took vengeance on their wrongdoings.

Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all you gods.

How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: and their fate should have endured forever.

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

And it came to pass, when the ark moved forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let your enemies be scattered; and let them that hate you flee before you.

The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

The foolish shall not stand in your sight: you hate all workers of iniquity.

He that plans to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found unto you such as you desire not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, conceit, tumults:

That I may seize the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
