My eye mourns by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon you, I have stretched out my hands unto you.
If you prepare your heart, and stretch out your hands toward him;
Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto you daily.
I stretch forth my hands unto you: my soul thirsts after you, as a thirsty land. Selah.
My heart pants, my strength fails me: as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
Jesus wept.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,
[A Song or Psalm for the Sons of Karah. To the Chief Musician upon mahanath leannoth. A maschil of Heman the Ezrahite.] O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you:
Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is your God?
My eye is consumed because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.
My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are like a shadow.
My friends scorn me: but my eye pours out tears unto God.
Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God has hedged in?
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and plan deceit all the day long.
He has hedged me in, that I cannot get out: he has made my chain heavy.
