For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has smitten my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

Adrift among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom you remember no more: and they are cut off from your hand.

For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool forever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how does the wise man die? as the fool.

And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the holy place, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they shall be driven into darkness.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
