Why hide you your face, and hold me for your enemy?

On the left hand, where he does work, but I cannot behold him: he hides himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

[To the Chief Musician upon aijeleth shahar. A Psalm of David.] My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?

Hide not your face far from me; put not your servant away in anger: you have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

LORD, by your favor you have made my mountain to stand strong: you did hide your face, and I was troubled.

Why hide you your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our body cleaves unto the earth.

[To the Chief Musician for the sons of Korah. A song upon alamoth.] God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

LORD, why cast you off my soul? why hide you your face from me?

O the hope of Israel, its savior in time of trouble, why should you be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turns aside to tarry for a night?

Why should you be as a man confused, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet you, O LORD, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; leave us not.
