If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink:

And he answered, You shall not slay them: would you slay those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

And the men who were mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and dressed them, and gave them sandals, and gave them food and drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

Though it be given him to be in safety, he rests; yet his eyes are upon their ways.

Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles:

Say not, I will do so to him as he has done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

As he that takes away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon soda, so is he that sings songs to a heavy heart.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you;

And now, behold, I know well that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.
