And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the leaders of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuses to give me permission to go with you.

And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the fees of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spoke unto him the words of Balak.

And he said unto Balak, Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.

Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he has blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God wrought!

And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looks toward the wasteland.

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go: perhaps the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he shows me I will tell you. And he went to a high place.

And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

But I have a few things against you, because you have there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

And now, behold, I know well that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.

Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

Then Saul said to David, Blessed be you, my son David: you shall both do great things, and also shall still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
