For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

And their territory was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the valley, and all the plain by Medeba;

Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamothbaal, and Bethbaalmeon,

And their territory was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is near Rabbah;

Heshbon with its pasture lands, Jazer with its pasture lands; four cities in all.

While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its villages, and in Aroer and its villages, and in all the cities that are along by the borders of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did you not recover them within that time?
