Woe unto you, Pharisees! for you love the best seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief places at feasts;
Be tender loving one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;
Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.
