Leviticus 21:1

And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people:

And they shall come near no dead person to defile themselves: but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that has had no husband, they may defile themselves.

This is the law, when a man dies in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

And you shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

And now, O you priests, this commandment is for you.

Hear you this, O priests; and hearken, you house of Israel; and give you ear, O house of the king; for judgment is for you, because you have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

And whosoever touches one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that has a discharge, and whosoever is defiled by the dead:

All the days that he separates himself unto the LORD he shall go near no dead body.

He that touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.
