I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
If I sin, then you mark me, and you will not acquit me from my iniquity.
You know that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of your hand.
For you have said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in your eyes.
Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be justified.
How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my transgression and my sin.
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and you sew up my iniquity.
Not for any violence in my hands: also my prayer is pure.
Upright men shall be astonished at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
The righteous also shall hold to his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
But he knows the way that I take: when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my justice was as a robe and a turban.
So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
Surely you have spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
For Job has said, I am righteous: and God has taken away my justice.
Should I lie concerning my right? my wound is incurable though I am without transgression.
Think you this to be right, that you said, My righteousness is more than God’s?
And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
For he breaks me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.
Though I were blameless, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
If the scourge slays suddenly, he will laugh at the plight of the innocent.
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.
Yet you say, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with you, because you say, I have not sinned.
