Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God has hedged in?
He has fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he has set darkness in my paths.
He has hedged me in, that I cannot get out: he has made my chain heavy.
Why say you, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is passed over by my God?
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and make a wall, so that she shall not find her paths.
He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone, he has made my paths crooked.
You have put away my acquaintance far from me; you have made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: you have set my feet in a wide place.
His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tent.
Behold, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again: he shuts up a man, and there can be no opening.
Know now that God has overthrown me, and has compassed me with his net.
Who rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
You put my feet also in the stocks, and watch closely all my paths; you set a bound to the soles of my feet.
My eye mourns by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon you, I have stretched out my hands unto you.
