So Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.

Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sank in the mire.

O Lord, you have pleaded the causes of my soul; you have redeemed my life.

I will hear you when your accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.

But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' position: and Felix, willing to show the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was allowed to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
