But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.

He that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.

Because, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

For if a man thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

If any man among you seems to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision:

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talk;

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Thus says the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Nay but, O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?
