Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger:

He that has knowledge spares his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Whosoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.

In the multitude of words there lacks not sin: but he that refrains his lips is wise.

He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame unto him.

He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

Be angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger quiets strife.

But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy talk out of your mouth.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful.

The discretion of a man delays his anger; and it is his glory to overlook a transgression.

The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

He that is quickly angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked intentions is hated.

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

The beginning of strife is like releasing water: therefore leave off contention, before a quarrel starts.

If any man among you seems to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.

And refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage: but you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

And immediately many were gathered together, so much that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again.

Immediately therefore I sent to you; and you have done well that you are come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded you of God.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Then drew near unto him all the tax collectors and sinners to hear him.

And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshiped the LORD their God.

I have not written unto you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

David therefore himself calls him Lord; and how is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.

See you a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope for a fool than for him.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials;

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?

Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest you fall under judgment.

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

When I had waited, (for they spoke not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
