And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: if laid on the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

What is man, that you are mindful of him? and the son of man, that you visit him?

Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he takes up the isles as fine dust.

All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and worthless.

I, even I, am he that comforts you: who are you, that you should be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made as grass;

Thus says the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.

And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are raised up; yea, they that test God are even delivered.

Whereas you know not what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
