For if Joshua had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

And gave them the lands of the nations: and they inherited the labor of the people;

He cast out the nations also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Joshua into the possession of the nations, which God drove out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

For you are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you.

Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget it.

God, who at many times and in various manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

There remains therefore a rest to the people of God.

Until the LORD has given your brethren rest, as he has given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God gives them: then you shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side of Jordan toward the sun rising.

So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

And now the LORD your God has given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of Jordan.

And it came to pass a long time after the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua grew old and stricken in age.
