Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking justice, and hastening righteousness.

He that walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he that despises the gain of oppressions, that keeps his hands from the holding of bribes, that stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

None calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth: they trust in empty words, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its broad places, if you can find a man, if there is any that executes justice, that seeks the truth; and I will pardon it.

He that has not lent money for interest, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man,

In you have they taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten me, says the Lord GOD.

Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother:

These are the things that you shall do; Speak you every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

These were the renowned of the congregation, leaders of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the leaders, who are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto you.

Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man:

And he would not for awhile: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.

Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;

Not given to wine, not violent, not greedy of money; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

And with him ten leaders, of each chief house a leader throughout all the tribes of Israel; and every one was a head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

And he will appoint himself captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his weapons of war, and equipment for his chariots.

And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after gain, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
