And all the elders of that city, that are nearest unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley:
Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that has an issue, or that is a leper, or that leans on a staff, or that falls on the sword, or that lacks bread.
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands ever so clean;
Who can understand his errors? cleanse me from secret faults.
I will wash my hands in innocence: so will I go about your altar, O LORD:
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.
For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the Lord GOD.
And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
Which stood only in foods and drinks, and various washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
