2 Chronicles 30:8

Now be you not stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him.

And all the leaders, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

Now hear me therefore, and return the captives, whom you have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

And said unto them, You shall not bring in the captives here: for since we have offended against the LORD already, you intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning unto the LORD God of Israel.

Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them who have taken foreign wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter is turned from us.

And they gave their promise that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

To see your power and your glory, so as I have seen you in the sanctuary.

They have seen your goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.

Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending avenging angels among them.

And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people:

Shout against her round about: she has given her hand: her foundations have fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she has done, do unto her.

Then said Jesus unto him, Begone, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.

If any man serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serves me, him will my Father honor.

But to Israel he says, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and contrary people.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.

You shall fear the LORD your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.

You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sits on the throne shall dwell among them.
