For it is written in the law of Moses, You shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads out the grain. Does God care for oxen?

These all wait upon you; that you may give them their food in due season.

A righteous man regards the life of his animal: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Bread grain is ground; therefore he will not forever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor crush it with his horsemen.

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also many cattle?

Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain.

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.

For the scripture says, You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain. And, The laborer is worthy of his reward.
